One of the Knicks’ senior support staffers assumes expanded duties for the 2010-11 season...Promoted to current position in summer 2010 following nine seasons as video coordinator...Based out of the state-of-the-art video setup at MSG Training Center in Greenburgh, Matt’s increased responsibilities include advance scouting of upcoming opponents, video scouting, overseeing all specialized statistical information and working closely with the coaching staff on upcoming game plan information...Accompanies Knicks on most road trips...Ably assisted by assistant video coordinator Mike Smith, who is in his seventh full season with the Knicks.
Currently in his 19th overall season with Knicks (15th fulltime)...Originally joined Knicks in 1992-93 as a game night statistical assistant to the coaching staff...Joined on a fulltime basis as training site assistant in 1996-97...Named assistant video coordinator in 1998-99, promoted to video coordinator in 2001-02...Broke into pro sports in 1992 as coaching staff intern with the Orlando Magic under Matt Guokas.
1991 graduate of the University of Rhode Island (BA, Journalism)...Proud native of Joe Lapchick’s hometown of Yonkers...Graduate of Saunders Trades and Technical HS...Lives in Yorktown Heights, NY, a town named in commemoration of America’s decisive Revolutionary War victory at Yorktown, VA.
